The anti-Deutsch movement broadly started as an attempt to oppose a resurgence of murderous German nationalism triggered by Germany’s reunification in 1990 according to Berlin-based sociologist Peter Ullrich. Speaking to Novara Media, he explained that the anti-Deutsch movement feared reunification would lead to a “fourth Reich.”
